DEAR EDITOR -- I wish to inquire for my brother who left Fairfield District, South Carolina, about 1865, with the Yankees and said he was going to Texas to look for us.  I have never heard a word from him since.  His name is Jim Aiken; his mother's Catherine Aiken; father's James McVea.  He may go by father's name.  Robert McVea, our old master, moved from Fairfield District, South Carolina, to Texas, and brought all of the McVea family with him.  Father had Charlotte Aiken [undeciperable] a wife at the time and Jim was their son.
