He was born in or near the town of Harrisonville, Cass County, Mo.  He was a slave and at the out-break of the war enlisted in the First Kansas Colored Infantry, and served until the close of the war.  He may have went by the name of Rhine or McAfee, having been owned by both slave holders and therefore used both names.  Any information concerning him or any expense incured in doing so will be paid by his son, Mr. L. E. GIDEON, Brocton Massachusetts or 392 West Fulton Street, Chicago, Ill.  This is his son, who is the owner and originator of Gideon's Refined Negro Minstrels.  He is very anxious to learn the whereabouts of his father, and we hope all who read this article, especially the old-timers, will give this careful consideration and investigate to the fullest extent.  Mr. Gideon's son is a gentleman of refinement, culture and wealth.  He is one of the leading showmen of the country, carrying thirty people and has been for years.  He and his mother would profit considerable if they could locate him.
